Stay Aware of Amber Alerts by Watching Those Buses

Here's a new way to stay aware of Amber Alerts when a child has been abducted in the Greater Vancouver, BC area -- notices on local buses.

Today I saw one of these on  local computer buses serving the Port Coquitlam, BC area.  On the  sign that  denotes what route it was serving  it had the simple notice that there was an Amber Alert and to check  radios for more information.

This one dealt with  the abduction of two young girls in Alberta by their birth-mother apparently.

A great way to make even more persons aware of these Amber Alerts.

Invest In Yiour Future!

Now is the a good time to invest in your future -- before you get there and might need help.

What I mean is taking the time to make a donation to organizations such as the Greater Victoria Eldercare Foundation.

To quote part of an advertorial I saw in Senior Living,  May 2014:

The Eldercare Foundation enhances the care comfort, dignity and independence of hundred of elderly residents living in care facilities and generally support elderly persons living on Vancouver Island"

What, they and other organizations like this, do  is help to update equipment in senior centres as well as organization community programs that help seniors to stay in their homes longer.

Needless to say these types of things can easy run into millions of dollars so  why not make a donation today to help them and similar organizations out?  That would be a good way to help protect your future.

When you get older you just never know when they might be able to help you.

Is BC Hydro Getting Sneaky with Smart Hold Installation Hold-Outs?

Is BC Hydro resorting to trickery in order  to complete smart-meter installations despite the fact that thousands of clients are still refusing them?

Their latest attempt to install some type of smart meter could be carried out under the guise of having to install a re-certified old-style analog meter to meet Measurement Canada requirements.

BC Hydro claims that these are definitely not smart meters, but when two of the sub-contractors came to our house to try and install one both of the men were wearing complete head protective gear -- not just hard hats and safety classes but helmets equipped   with some type of protective material that came down as far as their shoulders and also equipped with eye visors to protect their eyes and face..... hmm?

All of this just to change an electrical meter?

Check with the Citizens for Safe Technology web site: www.citizensforsafetechnology.org   for more information.

Watch Those Nutritional Shakes

Many persons are consuming those nutritional shakes in order to fortify their bodies --especially when they do not have time to eat a full meal -- but -- according to Health Canada -- it could be dangerous to your health.

According to a Global news broadcast, November 1, 2013 one leading brand  of nutritional shake was contaminated with chloramphenicol or (CAP) Health Canada said.

The company media person denied that the levels of the drug posed a risk, but according to the Health Canada research it is not clear at what levels this drug would pose a danger to your health.

For more information on this check the Global News reporter of November 1, 2013.  The original story was written by Christine Tam and Amy Judd and referred to two specific shakes produced by the company in question.

Do your research and check this out carefully before accepting any company advertising.  The health care practitioner who warned me recently about this danger tested me for another nutritional shake product from this company and found it was definitely not something I should take personally.

Test it With Your Thumb

Love nice fresh fish -- especially when it is on sale for a good price?

We all do, but be careful because in some super markets you could  wind up with a nice looking piece of fish that you find out is rotten when you get it home.

Of course you can always take it back but why not check it out first with a simple test?  Take you thumb and push a section of the fish down with a firm pressure.

If the side of the fish does not bounce back to its original shape quickly forget it; it's usually rotten.

Take the time to look in another store for your salmon ( or other fish) feast. It will pay off in the end
