Some Things to Remember When Trying to Interpret Body Language

Never fall into the trap of thinking that  reading body language is easy or that it is always infallible. Remember it is only a guide -- although if you learn to do it properly a very valuable guide in getting to know people you meet.

You will find some very valuable tips  in Dr. Oz's online blog. Just click on the Dr. Oz Show and then scroll down to the  Oz Blog. There on the third page you will find a feature by Janine Driver telling us "Why Body Language is International"   Enjoy.

Do This To Document Your Travels

If for any reason you want to be able to document where you where at a certain time (or times)  modern technology  provides you with an aid, even if you do not have actual living witnesses.

Let's say you have to run an errand and for some reason you want to be able prove  your location at a given time or  how long it took you to complete your mission for your boss.  Simply go to a store with an ATM machine and make an account inquiry when you arrive at or near your destination.

The printed slip will show your exact location and the time.

Then when you are back close to your home or office etc  and there is nobody there to document or witness the time of your arrive simply repeat this tactic. Go into the closest service station or convenience store and make another  bank account inquiry -- or simply make a small purchase and keep the receipt, but you'll find that the ATM inquiry sheets, being a uniform size, in most cases,  are much easier to file away.

This will show that you arrived back close to your home or office at that given time shown on the slip.

No it's not a perfect system but it can corroborate your activities if you feel you might be questioned and you don't have any witnesses.

Oprah Winfrey Says Forget Revenge!

One of the things she said in one of her farewell remarks at the end of her 25 years on televisions was keeping grudges and trying to get even is a total waste of time that destroys only you. And that is so true!

As she suggests people who do bad things to others will eventually get what is coming to them. Remember Carma!.

It is much better to go on with your life building a successful happy and business life without such persons and avoiding similar people in the future. As another person said, " The best revenge is just to survive and succeed despite what that person did or tried  to do to you.

Remember The Apple when dealing With People

I have may latest copy of  LP Magazine (March April 2011) and as always it is full of  excellent articles and idea about loss prevention -- this month dealing with loss prevention in Mexico and one of the first  ad I cam to was one with the heading" Finding bad applies has never been easier"  promoting a software suite.  And that is true if the programs are used  properly, But the advertisement also raised another point. And that is about detecting bad apples when dealing with them face to face.

Some of the these people are of courser easy to detect -- but like that  worm hiding deep within a nice shiny delicious looking apple it is sometimes a little difficult to detect  the worm in the person's. personality  Even after you have known a person for sometime it can take a long time for that to emerged.

To help you stay aware  and on top of your game  in being able to detect this  pick up  -- and study -- and apply some of the books you can find on "reading people.  There are also some excellent tips that are published on magazine like Psychology Today  on this topic.   Just remember that the tips you will learn here have to be used with balance --very carefully, before making any decisions about people

Can You Analyze the Scene Quickly?

Recently  the Insurance Corporation of BC  which  insures  most of the vehicles on the roads here in BC and controls the release of vehicle licence plates  ran a series of newspaper and television ads which  gave you a driver's perspective  of a vehicle approaching a  --  busy -- street intersection with the question:  "Can you see the youth (or other person) racing across the street?" This person  of course was partially obscured by other pedestrians standing at the intersection as well as other vehicles maneuvering through this area.

The message of  was  that drivers need to be aware of what is going on around them at all times and be able to act quickly to avoid killing somebody else who makes a mistake. And that is not easy if you are going too fast or not paying attention!

Of course that is not only something we all need to do while driving but at all times.  Get in the habit of staying aware of your surroundings and quickly analyzing and acting on what you see. Make a habit of doing this.

It is really amazing how many persons do not.  They look yes -- but do they really see what is happening around them?   NO!

(Incidentally,  if this is something you could improve on there are some good books for writers published that can help you to develop this scene or picture skill even  in the comfort of your own home.  Typically they  give you a series of pictures like say a flower in a vase standing alone on a table, an unmade bed, a dark lane on a rainy evening, etc and ask you to write what you see.  It can be a very enjoyable way to help develop these scene analyzing skills and  idea composing skills at the same time.)
