See You Next Week with More Ideas

See you next week with more ideas.  In the meantime if you ever find yourself in situations where you would like to be able to see things in the dark  why not look around for night vision binoculars in the outdoor or sporting goods stores.

At one time such gear would cost in the thousands of dollars of  a single lens monocular, but now at least one of the catalogs I have been looking at  is advertising such equipment for as little as $349.99 for saa monocular and $549.99 for binoculars.

If  you are doing any type of security or surveillance work  these -- could be -- ideal.

Just remember  that old Chinese proverb: "cheap thing no good and good thing no cheap."    That isn't true all the time of course, but just a little caution when shopping for anythying that's all.

Defeat Pre-Presentation Anxiety!

If you are a public speaker or presenter there are a number of  ways to protect yourself from pre-presentation jitters or anxiety such as deep breathing  or going for a quick walk if you have the opportunity --  but one of the best ways to defeat the jitters  is to know your introduction perfectly.

And the best way to do this is to make that Mind Map of the material you are going to cover (or write out this section with a pencil or pen word for word on a piece of paper)  just before before you leave home or the hotel to head for the auditorium or wherever you are going to be speaking

This writing out the material while thinking about what you are saying and what it means, according to study consultants, is the best way to learn and remember things.

After you have done all this the next step is to visualize yourself  on that stage introducing yourself and topic whenever you have a few minutes while travelling to your venue and while waiting on stage for your time to begin.

Go Beyond Great Beach Form and Stylish Boating Duds

Summers coming and soon you'll see the beaches crowded with girls and guys with great beach form and the oceans and lakes filled with still others with the latest in watercraft and stylish clothes.  And soon too, you'll read of some of these people drowning after  they suddenly find themselves in deep water or caught in some treacherous current and don't know how to swim or lack emergency response skills when boating.

Don't be one of these victims.   Take the time, along with your wife and children to learn how to swim and take boating safety courses.

Learning how to swim is not that hard and it is a great way to protect that summer adventurer physic -- as well as your life. And learning marine safety skills will enhance your boating enjoyment as you'll know how to handle emergencies -- including idiots in boats much better.

Don't Fight It!

Summers coming and you probably be getting ready to head for your favorite swimming spot soon.

If that happens to be the open ocean and you find your self caught in a rip-tide which carries all the water from waves back out to seat from the shoreline  remember: Don't fight it.  Stay clam and float with the current and then try to swim through the current parallel to the shoreline. Eventually the current will release you and you can head back to shore.

Because such dangers as rip tides and other currents can grab you at almost any time -- even in shallow water it is a good idea to start your summer activities with a brief water safety course that will train you how to deal with such problems while out in the water.

The Canadian Red Cross site has more information on the courses available at www.canadianredcross.org

Remember The Rule of Three

There is a  need for people to remember that "Rule of Three"to detect stalkers and others who might be tracking you as you go about your shopping , recreational and other work and social activities.

In many cases such persons will follow or  watch you for some time to either find out where you live or go walking or jogging alone in order to set up some sort of ambush -- or just to gather information about your activities, contacts, etc. for themselves or other persons.

So what is this "rule of three?" Simply this: If you encounter a vehicle or persons within a short period of time  -- which  could be minutes, hours, or days --  three times (or more) within a few hours or days  -- with no apparent good reason  be alert, try and get a good description --even using your cell phone camera and a licence number and good description of the vehicle. Use discretion when taking pictures of other people of course.

And then keep that description in a safe place so you can review it once in a while to keep that person's image fresh in your mind if you are really suspicious about him or her.

If you feel threatened by such a person, or course, don't hesitate to call the police  on their emergency 911 or non-emergency number to alert them about your fears.

Does Your Story Need Editing?

Does your life story need editing? Whether we realize it or not we are all players on the world stage. We are all acting out our own personal story -- our life story.  And like Scrooge in that old Christmas classic make needed changes to build a happy life and future.

But to make it successful we need to stop take a look at what story we are writing  Ask yourself, "Where did I come from? Where am  I now? Where am I going to end up if I continue on the present course?" as  Bob Sands of American Writers & Artists wrote in his article, "The Power of Story".

In his article  Sands uses the example of old Scrooge  who was  reminded of humble beginnings, the miserable miser he had become, and what would happen if he continued his wretched course by three ghosts. Fortunately he story had a happy ending because he responding positively to what he saw.

We won't have the help of those three ghosts, but we too can protect ourselves from bad outcomes.  -- if we just stop once in a while to review what we have become. And then act positively if we don't like what we see.

If you do this  -- and make necessary changes that will help protect --  no matter how far in your life story you've come so far  -- your tale   can still be a success and one that will help others on their journey when they read or hear your life story.

Protect Your Eyes!

Summer's coming (I think) and the chance to get out boating, hiking, cycling, whitewater rafting -- or whatever. But while busy with these activities don't forget to protect your  lungs and eyes.

Look outside at any given time --especially in the early morning or evening during the week and you are bound to see  more than few people cycling or jogging  - alongside a busy highway or roadway -- without any type of mask -- and breathing in all those fumes from passing cars and trucks.

No it might not affect them right away but when they get older all this exposure to this pollution will definitely contribute to or cause respiratory problems just like breathing in second hand smoke will.

Don't join their ranks if you must cycle or jog beside a main road. Stop at sporting good store and buy a good mask first. Protect your lungs. There is a long waiting list for lung transplants and the feeling that you are always just on the edge of suffocating is no fun.

Then there is the matter of your eyes. You still see a lot of people working or playing outside for long periods of time without UV protective glasses.  They too will be sorry later on in life.

There is another group of people who wear sun glasses when outside -- when it is sunny, but toss them when under cloudy weather. They forget that  blue light can be just or even more damaging to eyesight than UV rays.

In the world we live in now it is best to  wear protective eye wear most of the time when outside --unless it is really cloudy. Danger to our eye sight is lurking around us just about  all the time nowadays.

Don't take your eyesight for granted. ( Blue light from some artificial indoor lighting can also be very dangerous to your eyesight.)

Do This Frst --Before Heading Out on the Water!

Getting ready for some summer fun on the water?
But before you actually head out make sure you brush up on your boating safety skills first.  Far too many boaters do not give much  consideration to this. And not keeping safety foremost in your mind can have deadly results for you  and others.

Tasking the online safety course is also mandatory now if you own and operate any type of power boat.  For more information on this check such sites as  www.safeboatingcourse.ca./BC  or www.discoverboating.ca/Free DVD

You should also brush up on you swimming skills.  Far too many persons have all the right moves and attire on the beach but when they suddenly find themselves unexpectedly in deep water they are helpless.
