Protect Your Eyes!

Summer's coming (I think) and the chance to get out boating, hiking, cycling, whitewater rafting -- or whatever. But while busy with these activities don't forget to protect your  lungs and eyes.

Look outside at any given time --especially in the early morning or evening during the week and you are bound to see  more than few people cycling or jogging  - alongside a busy highway or roadway -- without any type of mask -- and breathing in all those fumes from passing cars and trucks.

No it might not affect them right away but when they get older all this exposure to this pollution will definitely contribute to or cause respiratory problems just like breathing in second hand smoke will.

Don't join their ranks if you must cycle or jog beside a main road. Stop at sporting good store and buy a good mask first. Protect your lungs. There is a long waiting list for lung transplants and the feeling that you are always just on the edge of suffocating is no fun.

Then there is the matter of your eyes. You still see a lot of people working or playing outside for long periods of time without UV protective glasses.  They too will be sorry later on in life.

There is another group of people who wear sun glasses when outside -- when it is sunny, but toss them when under cloudy weather. They forget that  blue light can be just or even more damaging to eyesight than UV rays.

In the world we live in now it is best to  wear protective eye wear most of the time when outside --unless it is really cloudy. Danger to our eye sight is lurking around us just about  all the time nowadays.

Don't take your eyesight for granted. ( Blue light from some artificial indoor lighting can also be very dangerous to your eyesight.)
