The media -- either the Vancouver Sun or Globe and Mail recently ran a short story about a farmer who caught men trying to steal all all-terrain vehicle from one of his sheds.
He responded by grabbing a shot gun and chasing them down in his pick up. He ended up shooting one of the thieves -- in the back -- while he was trying to run away.
The end result of this was that while the thief was not that severely injured ( the gun was loaded with light bird shot) the farmer was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Remember. Never give into high pressure reactions and act without thinking. You are responsible for the results of every action to you make.
Saying that you didn't intend to ...or didn't know --- does not work in law.
