Strengthen Your Heart - Reduce Stress with a Light Foot

Want to strengthen your heart and reduce stress?  Go dancing!

I met an old backhoe operator the other weekend who was carried through his shift working a leveling a parking lot at a construction by the thought of picking up his wife and heading out to a community dance centre where he plays the bass and dances until the wee hours of the morning.

He was was really excited about the coming evening as his shift drew to a close as he grew up participating in such dancing in regularly in the south-east corner of Quebec near Maine.

There is little wonder that he seemed to be brimming with energy and life as he spoke of his memories from various dance groups and bands. A friend of ours who goes dancing regularly also eagerly anticipates her weekly dancing and seems to be full of energy and enthusiasm for life as well.

And most doctors will tell you that dancing -- especially as in old time square dancing, tangos type of dances are an excellent way to socialize, as well as to get a great aerobic workout, lose weight  and reduce stress all at the same time.

So, if you want a little change of pace from power-weight lifting, or running those marathons, or cycling, or swimming you might want to pick up those dance shoes and head out once in a while with your wife or girl friend to your local dance hall.

If you have any doubts about this  watch the Dancing with the Stars show on T.V.

Some of the current contestants, such as Nancy Grace, legal television host and journalist, have lost as much as 15 pounds half way through the current season -- and seem to be having the time of their lives at the same time.
