We Need To Look To Other Types of Cancer Treatment

The recent death of  popular Canadian politician and Leader of the Opposition in the Canadian Parliament who died recently from prostate cancer, which apparently had spread to other parts of his body, and the news that Steve Jobs,  the founder of  Apple, has resigned as the CEO,  because of  spreading cancer after a successful initial battle against this disease are grim reminders of the need to find new ways to fight cancer  -- whether these ways are mainstream medicine techniques or some form of  naturopathic or complementary care techniques.

One of these other types of treatments is reflexology, a type of massage treatment of  points in our feet, legs, hands, head, and even ears. These massages help our bodies to cure themselves through the restoration of a proper nerve supply to various organs and other body parts.

Nobody claims these treatments are some type "magic bullet" that will make diseases and other health problems disappear but researchers such  as  Bernard C. Kolster, MD. and Astrid Waskowiak, M.D. who wrote the book, The Reflexology Atlas and Ann Gillanders, Principal of the British School of Reflexology and writer of The Complete Reflexology Tutor, have pubished evidence showing that such treatments can succeed in curing diseases  or bringing relief from health problems  where  mainstream medicine and surgery fails.

Personally and professionally as  a reflexology practitioner for the past 40 years I have found this to be true.

More information on reflexology can be found by searching online or by contacting one of the reflexology associations  or treatment centers in your city or town, such as the Pacific Reflexology Institute in Vancouver, B.C.  or the Canadian Reflexology Association.

Another type of treatment that has been successful with some persons is the power of mind which can have have a tremendous impact on our health.

I'll never forget the case of a local fireman who had been condemned to death because of cancer which had spread through much of his body but who survived because of using his mind to battle it.  And he is not alone in such success.

Just how strong the mind-body connection is can be seen in Tony Buzan's book  Head Strong  How to Get Physically and Mentally Fit  and in the September 2011 edition of  Alive  magazine with its feature "Change your brain"
